Magical

I stopped by a local beauty supply shop today and bought a glitter polish by NK called Magical.  It looks so pretty in the bottle.  The glitter is in a clear base and depending on the lighting it shimmers in tones of blue, green, aqua, and turquiose.  I decided to spice up my current mani and put one coat of NK Magical over China Glaze Frostbite.

As I mentioned in my previous post, my co-worker wore Essie Lilacism recently.  She was still wearing the mani today and I managed to get a quick photo.

I had a tough time picking a color today.  There's a pink China Glaze that I've been itching to try out but when I picked my outfit for a family get together this evening, I couldn't have been happier with my decision.

China Glaze - Frostbite

I was frustrated with the application.  Maybe the polish didn't interact well with the Revlon base coat?  It kept streaking and the first coat was horrible, but after the second things evened out.  Anyway, I LOVE this color and it doesn't look awkward with my skin tone. 

The pics are deceiving. I tried to capture the true color in different lighting but it didn't work.  In real life, the color is a shimmery blue and the pics make it look so much brighter than it truly is.  The middle pic up top is in the sunlight the rest indoors in various lighting.  Two coats was fine but for good measure, I would have done three if I had the drying time.

Lilac Lovin'

My co-worker showed off a beautiful color she was wearing on Friday so I thought I'd share.  The color was "Lilacism" by Essie.  It's a beautiful lavendar cream shade that was opaque in two coats.  I forgot to take a pic of her nails but I'll try to get one if she's still wearing it on Monday. So here's Lilacism from Essie's "The Art of Spring" 2010 collection.

Perfectly Nude

I was so happy to change colors today and rid myself of that hideous gray/silver glitter, ew!  This time around I opted for a nude color with a hint of sparkle.  I wanted to swatch pink China Glaze polish I bought recently, but I think I'll wear it on Saturday.  The base color I'm wearing below is by Soo Nails (a local brand) and the color on the bottom of the bottle is Beige.  I feel it's more of a pale peach.  It's a very bland shade but the application was smooth and I have no complaints.  I also wanted a hint of shimmer to spice it up so I topped with a thin coat of A Perfect "10" called Twinkle.

Rainy Skies

Yesterday I purchased my very first Milani polish called Silver Dazzle.  Not sure what made me choose this color but I don't own anything like it so I decided to give it a try.  There are many types of colors that aren't flattering to my skin tone and I think this is one of those shades.  I love the sparkle but a different color would look much nicer.  Nonetheless, it was a perfect choice for the crappy rainy weather today in NYC :P

Milani - Silver Dazzle

The photo quality isn't the best it can be.  The top middle pic the "real life" appearance of the color, in my opinion. I do own a decent digital camera but I get lazy dealing with the various settings. Also, excuse the tip wear lol I'm very rough with my hands and manicures never last me more than a couple of days!

Hello.  I'm Nikki and welcome to my very first post!  I've recently re-discovered my love of nail polish and I've been inspired by other bloggers to post swatches of all the great colors out there! I'm new at this and I'm learning so much about nail care, designs and technique so I'll be posting swatches strictly for fun.  Feel free to leave any comments or opinions.

Sinful Colors -  Tokyo Pearl

In other blogs, I noticed a lot of people don't care for the pearly type of polishes because of the brush strokes but I found this color very flattering and easy to work with and I don't mind seeing the brush strokes at all.  I think this polish is more vivid in person so I'm not sure if my iphone and the lighting did a great job of capturing it.
